License Types
All licenses are stored within the Emplifi Agent database. If you are using non-Emplifi database tools to move data between databases, you must not move the license tables, as your new database will not allow access with incorrect licenses. If you are moving data using the Emplifi System Manger, it will not move the license information. You will need to obtain the correct licenses for the new database. Please contact Emplifi Support for more information.
Each type of license specifies functionality that is granted based on the makeup of the license. For each type of license, there are 3 types of availability:
Perpetual – License is not constrained by dates and will never expire.
Term – License is available starting with a specific date and expiring on a specific date.
Seasonal – License is available each year but only for specified months.
License's availability may be extended or replaced if current availability is not sufficient. Please contact Emplifi Support or your Account Manager to discuss.
The following types of Licenses are required and must be installed to allow access to the users and specific server functionality.
License | Availability | Relevance | Note |
---|---|---|---|
DATABASE | Perpetual Term | Application Features:
| This controls what features are enabled for the entire database. If enabled, further control may be available through security functions and or configurations. If not enabled the features are not available for anyone accessing data in the database. |
SERVER | Perpetual Term | Server Types:
| The database being accessed by each server type must contain a license to the physical server name, corresponding to the server type being executed. Example: If your application server runs on a server named PCProd and your email service runs on EmailProd you will need a license for each server type naming the appropriate server. |
If after the initial installation it is determined that you need to add licenses for additional application features you may purchase the following License type:
License | Availability | Relevance | Note |
---|---|---|---|
APPLICATION | Perpetual | Application Features:
| This adds additional features that are enabled for the entire database. These turn on the features that were turned off with the DATABASE License. The only difference is that these licenses may be purchased for seasonal work. |
One or more of the following are required to allow access by users and control the number of users accessing the system. You may have combinations of the following based on your needs and usage of the software.
License | Availability | Relevance | Note |
---|---|---|---|
CONCURRENT USER | Perpetual | Specific number of Users specified. Products Available:
| Allows a maximum number of users accessing the products specified at a given time. You may assign more users than allowed to this type of Profile, but only the number specified will be allowed access. Once this maximum is reached, someone will need to log out to allow someone else access. |
NAMED USER | Perpetual Term Seasonal | Specific number of Users specified. Products Available:
| Those users assigned to this type of Profile will always be allowed access. You will only be able to assign this Profile type to the specified number of users when setting up users. You will not be permitted to assign this Profile type once you have reached the number of licenses purchased. |
A license type is available that will allow access to existing functionality without restricting the number of users. This license type is not widely used and only available on Term availability.
License | Availability | Relevance | Note |

AUDIT ONLY | Term |
| You will need to run usage reports to determine the usage in order to determine the correct number of licenses you will need. |
