License Management

When you upgrade or create a new Emplifi Agent site, the administrator may need to install licenses, configure license profiles, and assign users to the license profiles which will control what user license types are assigned to which users.

The utilization of license management provides control and flexibility for your company’s use of Emplifi Agent. License management provides the following:

  • allows you to keep your company license compliant.

  • allows you to control who uses the system, to monitor usage of the system, and to manage who uses what areas of the system based on their license profile.

  • allows Emplifi the ability to provide more options for product usage.

  • allows creation of temporary licenses for call center spikes.

The following are basic license types:

License

Purpose

Application

Used to add optional functions, such as Audit Trails.

AuditOnly

Disables limits on the number of concurrent licenses and server license checks.

ConcurrentUser

A user license that grants rights to a fixed number of concurrent users to run a given product such as Case Management.

Database

The primary license, grants rights to optional functions such as Issue Detail.

NamedUser

A user license that grants rights to a fixed number of named users to run a given product.

Server

A license that grants rights to a set of named servers to run any of four services such as Emplifi Agent Server.

For information on licenses, see License Types.

License Set Up Overview

If you experience problems, have questions on these steps, or determine that your current licenses are not sufficient for your needs, please contact Emplifi Support via the Customer Portal or directly at 614-508-6150.

License Enforcement

License enforcement happens at one of two times. One is when assigning users to profiles. The second is when a user signs in. Based on your license type (Concurrent or Named) the system will limit the licenses from being assigned or not allow the user access.

Product and feature restrictions are enforced by restricting the user interface to what is licensed. Security roles still control access to specific functions after the product or feature has been validated. For more details, see the Interactions Between the Assigned Security Role and License Profile section on page Steps to Set Up a New User.

Server licenses are enforced by the service making a request to the License Manager to find out if that server, as named by its host name, is licensed for that service.

License Reports

To find out what licenses are installed on a database, run the License Report.

Emplifi Agent also includes a User License Report which allows you to view a list of the licenses. The User License report lists the number of available licenses and the used licenses for each Product and License Type. Run this report to find out the peak usage of the user licenses.
