Configuration: Notifier

Notifier is a standard feature that allows notifications to be sent to individuals or to groups when a specific action takes place on a case. The notifications can be sent via email, pager, or phone. For full details on how to set up and use this feature, see Notifier Overview.

Field

Description

Enable Notifier

This option must be selected for the Notifier to function. It can be turned off if problems are encountered with the system.

Group Notifications by Case

If a notification is going to be triggered for more than one issue on a case, selecting this option causes only a single notification to be sent that includes the information about all relevant issues. If this option is not selected, a separate notification is sent for each issue.

(info) If the Notifier cycle is short, it is still possible to get multiple notifications. For example, if a user posts an action triggering the first notification, then the Notifier cycles and sends that notification. Then, the user posts an action triggering a notification on a different issue. If the Notifier cycle was longer, the user may have had time to post both actions before the Notifier ran, in which case the notifications would be grouped appropriately.

HTTP Request URL

This should be the full URL to the Emplifi Agent Server. It is typically of the form:

http://server/sitename/PCAS/Request.aspx

(info) This is the same as the setting that displays on the Accounting settings. For details, see Configuration: Accounting.

Log File

The Notifier keeps its own log of all activity. Enter the full path and filename where the log should be written.

Notification Addressing

Determines whether one notification or multiple notifications are generated when there is more than one recipient.

  • One Address per Notification: With this setting, a separate notification is generated for every person that is going to receive a notification.

  • Multiple Addresses per Notification: With this setting, a single notification is generated where the "To:" line contains the addresses of all the notification recipients. This allows all the recipients to know who else received the same notification.

Log Mode

Determines whether the new log adds to the existing log or if it replaces the existing log.

  • Append: Adds the new log file to the existing log(s).

  • Replace: Replaces an old log file.
