Category Code Activation

When you define category codes, you can set starting and ending dates during which the code is active. However, the system does not automatically activate and deactivate the codes at the appropriate times. You must run this utility, which sets the active flag appropriately for each code based on its start and end dates.

To access the Category Code Activation Utility:

  • From the Application Function Bar, select Utilities > Configuration Utilities > Category Code Activation.

Set the following fields to run the utility:

Field

Description

Category

Browse for the Category Codes you want to update.

Results Language

Select which language you want the results to display in.

Time Zone

Select the time zone to use when processing dates for the results. Uses Time Zone of Agent is the default.

Any codes that do not specify either a start or end date will be ignored by this utility. The following rules are applied:

  • If only a start date is specified, the code will be activated after that date, and deactivated prior to that date.

  • If only an end date is specified, the code will be activated prior to that date, and deactivated after that date.

  • If both start and end dates are specified, the code will be activated as long as it falls on or in between these dates, and deactivated otherwise.

You must specify a single category to be processed by this utility. It is not possible to run the utility against multiple categories at once.

Tip: If you make frequent use of starting and ending dates on codes, you may want to consider saving this as a favorite and scheduling it as a recurring background process. That way you can ensure that codes will be activated and deactivated at the appropriate times.
