Defining Dependent Codes

The following topics contain additional information that you may find useful if you are not familiar with dependent codes:

To create a new dependency:

  1. In Administration, select Company Setup > Data Entry / Validation Rules > Migrations and Dependent Codes.

  2. Click the New Migration button on the banner. A selection window is displayed.

  3. Select the Source category on the left, and the Target (dependent) category on the right.

  4. Click OK. The new migration is added to the list as a Copy Code by default.

  5. Double click the new migration.

  6. Change the Migration Type to Dependent Code.

  7. Click the Save button on the banner.

To add codes to a new or existing dependency:

  1. In Administration, select Company Setup > Data Entry / Validation Rules > Migrations and Dependent Codes.

  2. Select the dependent code migration rule in the Function Bar.

  3. Click the New Code button to add code dependencies. A selection window is displayed.

  4. In the left part of the window, select one or more codes from the Source category.

  5. In the right part of the window, select one or more codes from the Target (dependent) category.

  6. Click the OK button. All the possible combinations for both source and target codes are added to the list of dependent codes.

  7. Click the Save button on the banner.

To remove codes from an existing dependency:

  1. In Administration, select Company Setup > Data Entry / Validation Rules > Migrations and Dependent Codes.

  2. Select the dependent code migration rule in the Function Bar.

  3. In the list of dependent codes, select one or more dependencies to delete.

  4. After selecting the rows to be deleted, click the Delete button. The system asks you to confirm the deletion.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Click the Save button on the banner.
