Datasource Definitions
The Datasource Definitions categories allow you to define the datasources to use when performing external address searches. When needed, these connections are made from the application server. You will also need proper connectivity from the application server to the datasource.
For information on defining categories, see Category Definition.
Data Source Fields
The Data Source tab allows you to define the necessary information for the datasource:
Field | Description |
---|---|
DBMS Type | DBMS is short for "Database Management System," referring to the database software that your company uses for Emplifi Agent (Microsoft SQL Server). Select from:
|
DBMS Provider | Select the provider name that corresponds to the DBMS type selected above. Select from:
|
Connection String | Enter the connection string to use when connecting to the database. Many connection strings require a user ID and password to connect to the data source. From within this screen these values are visible to anyone with Application Setup permissions. Also if the log levels are increased for your application and a connection is made to the datasource the ID and password are visible in the log file. Normal operating log levels will not display this information; you must increase the log levels before seeing the values. Log levels are generally only increased for trouble-shooting. |
Validate Connection
Click the Validate Connection button on the banner to validate the DBMS options and connection string entered for the datasource. A message displays to notify you whether the connection was successful. The datasource does not need to be saved before validation.
