Alternate Reporting Categories
Emplifi Agent allows you to maintain an alternate Code Hierarchy. This is useful when the Code Hierarchy that is used does not match the Hierarchy that you want to use for reporting purposes. This feature allows you to design a Hierarchy that will be more logical for your reporting purposes.
The Alternate Hierarchy is set up in a similar fashion to the Standard Hierarchies, but a different Category Code Type (O) is used. Once a Category has been coded, a new Category can be created that can have the same codes as the original Category. The number of folder levels does not need to be the same for the two Categories, nor do all the codes from the original Category have to be included in the alternate Category. The alternate Category can then be used for reporting and report filtering purposes. a
Manual changes to one category are not automatically reflected in the alternate category code hierarchy. Thus the alternate reporting hierarchy should not be started until the 'parent' category codes have been finalized.
For information on defining categories, see Category Definition.
Creating an Alternate Reporting Category
Define a Category and create the Hierarchy. This Category displays on one of the Case windows for data entry.
Define one of the 'O' Categories as the alternate to the Category created in step 1 (O01–O10*).
The 'O' Categories do not display in the Category menu when you browse the Category ID field in Category Maintenance. Click the New button and fill in the Category ID field with O01 through O10.
As with all Categories, the name of the alternate Category must be unique.
Except for the Number of Levels field, the Alternate Category should have the same configuration (for example, character length and capitalization type) as the original Category.
When the 'O' Category is created, the Table Column field defaults to null.oxx_code, where xx equals O01 – O10. Change this field to match the Table Column on the original Category from Step1.
Create the alternate Hierarchy. The folder names and number of levels can be different, but the Code names must be identical to the original Category. Not all of the Codes from the original Category must be created in the alternate Category. However, we recommend that any unneeded Codes be created in the alternate Category and placed in a separate folder.
The alternate Category is included in the reporting category and filter menus.
Additional 'O' Categories can be created in System Category Maintenance (up to O99).
